第4曲 アラビアの踊り
「アラビアの踊り」は、《くるみ割り人形》の中でもひときわ神秘的で静かな魅力を放つ小品で、ゆったりとした異国情緒に満ちた音楽です。低弦のうねるような伴奏と、長く伸びる旋律線が織りなす独特の音響は、遠い異国の夜を思わせる深い静けさと官能的な雰囲気を生み出しています。
全体は緩やかなテンポで進み、旋律は半音階的な動きを含みながら、息の長いフレーズで静かに揺れ続けます。和声は濃密でありながら過度に重くならず、むしろ淡い陰影を保ちながら、音の持つ湿度や温度感を巧みに描き出しています。反復されるリズムの上に漂うように重ねられる旋律は、聴き手をゆっくりと包み込み、幻想的で夢のような世界へと誘います。

No. 4 Danse arabe
The “Arabian Dance” is one of the most mysterious and quietly alluring numbers from The Nutcracker, suffused with an exotic atmosphere. Its gently undulating lower-string accompaniment and long, sustained melodic lines create a distinctive sound world, evoking the stillness and sensuality of a distant nocturnal landscape.
The music unfolds at a slow, unhurried tempo, the melody moving in long, breath-like phrases often colored by chromatic inflections. The harmony is dense yet never oppressive, maintaining a subtle, shaded color that suggests warmth and a soft, enveloping darkness. Floating above the repeated rhythmic patterns, the melody drifts with a hypnotic calm, gradually drawing the listener into a dreamlike, otherworldly space.
Though brief, the piece relies heavily on texture and the spacing of sound, standing as a finely crafted example of how Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky transforms an imagined exotic scene into a delicate and evocative musical miniature.
